Born in Singapore to an English father and a Japanese mother, she moved to Portugal in 2018 and has been working her way through England's youth system ever since — U16, U17, U19, U23, and now the senior squad. Why Wiegman Picked Her
Wiegman revealed that Parkinson was "speechless" when she received the call. The England manager explained the selection was partly necessitated by injuries to established midfielders, but insisted it was also a recognition of Parkinson's talent and trajectory. "When you watch her play," Wiegman said during the squad announcement, "you forget she's seventeen. Her understanding of the game is beyond her years."
That's a significant endorsement from a manager who doesn't hand out compliments casually. Wiegman's record with young players speaks for itself — she's consistently shown a willingness to fast-track genuine talent rather than waiting for players to accumulate experience by default.
